Is there essentially any difference between fascism and communism?

The stripping of all civil liberties for the common citizenry, the m murdering of people in the name of discouraging resistance, and my fav the allocating of all wealth and natural resources in the hands of a small group of tyrants. Communism fascism...I say tomato and you say tomawto.
