Is this moral or ethical copyright infringement?

I sent a professor my research papers and I am nobody totally in this field or any for that matter, however it was brought to my attention that this certain someone the very next day was seen by a friend of mine to announce a "new" study and my friend said it was like this person was reading right off the first page of my research papers, the point I am trying to make is that , this person prof. did not state a source and has not replied to me with a response, negative or positive, he did say he wanted me to send him a copy, also am I wrong to expect a response or feedback of some sort, and how much would constitute verbatim?
